Plotting a graph of the function f(x)
Hi all,
I am a newbie to the usage of mathcad and could do with some step by step help from you experts out there.
I have a mathcad problem:
I want to plot a graph of the function f(x) from the equation;
f(x) = x(14-7x)(16-7x)
4(4-x)^2
I do not want to show the equation in the worksheet (and so imagine there will be some packets of data on the sheet somewhere that can be referenced to).
From the information I need to plot a graph of the function f(x) (repeated myself didn't I).
I would like the graph needs to cover the interval [0, 2.68] in the x direction and [0, 80] in the y direction.
If anybody can help (step by step because I'm thick....lol). I woul;d be really grateful.

Dear all,
I got thanks a discussion chain some Mathcad macro's to read data in any worksheet in an excel file but thw woksheet name has to be known.
My data acquisition system generates automatically excel data table with every time new worksheet names.
Is it possible to obtain all the worksheet names of an excel file directly from Mathcad ?
Second question:
It is possible to read directly from Mathcad data within worksheet of Excel file and it works well.
Is it possible to do the reverse, ie to write data direclty from Mathcad in specific worksheets of an excel file ?
I have Mathcad 14 (will have mathcad 15 next year)

How to add two graph in Mathcad
Hi, I am trying to model solar cell characteristics in partial shading. i need to add two graphs which i have already plotted in Mathcad.Please suggest me any general method. Further how to add independent variable? I have thought of this way once but not possible.can two independent variable ( for example I have f(x1) and f(x2)) be added to form a third variable. (I mean is it possible to define f( x1+x2). I tried the same in mathcad but it seem impossible. if this two functions are already plotted how to get the superimposed graph of two? 3D Plots in MathCAD 14
Hello,
I'm new to these forums and I just had a quick question. When I set up a two variable function and try to plot it, MathCAD recognizes the function and seems to plot it successfully but it doesn't display. I can, however, see contour plots of the same function. Vector field, 3D scatter plot and 3D bar graphs don't display either. I'm kind of thinking it's a plugin problem or something. Any ideas?

Solving Equations for undefined variable with units
So, I am confused on how to solve an equation for an unknown with units. I am not sure if I am having unit problems or if my way of stating variables is incorrect. I am simply just trying to solve for the variable "d" which should have units in length. How should I declare variables that rely on other known and unknown variables? When should I solve an equation symbolically and just numerically in terms of getting proper units? I am used to using maple 16 so switching to MathCAD has been fairly intiutive but I am failing to pick up on certain features. If you fix my MathCAD code, I should be able to figure it out from the fix solution. Thanks!

Units incorrect? lbm, lbf
MathCad (2001i Pro) defines lbf (pound force) as 32.174 mass * length / time**2. Since we all recognize this as acceleration due to gravity we know the units are lbm, ft, and seconds squared. But the textbook definition of lbf is the above divided by the "gravitational constant" also 32.174 but the units include lbf in the denominator. This is critical; it shows that on earth, lbf and lbm are equivalent. But MathCad doesn't see it that way and it has been playing havoc with some gas calculations I'm doing. Any comments?

Alternate Software
Has anyone had any experience with "Engineering Equation Solver"?

I could use MATHCAD or MATLAB but I might as well use excel if I am going to use one of those. I have used EES for a couple of years now and the true power in it is being able to simultaneously solve systems of equations. For example, I could input 5 equations with 5 unknowns and it would solve for all 5 unknowns instantly without any manipulation to any of the equations. It could even simultaneously solve 100 equations with 100 unknowns!! I could pretty much input them as how they were written in a textbook or scientific paper without manipulation. If I was to do that in MATLAB, MATHCAD, or Excel, I would need to then waste a lot of time setting up a matrix to solve and you could imagine how time consuming that would be with 10+ equations/unknowns. EES is able to determine the variables that are unknown and its architecture automatically organizes the matrix and solves it. EES is also very powerful at combining this feature with being able to parametrically sweep design variables.

Mathcad 15 won't run on Windows 7
Hi
I have a computere with windows 7 x64 there, no matter what i do, won't run mathcad 15.
The installation seems to be completed without any problems, but when i try to run the application, the splash screen shows up, but after a short period of time, the application crash without any error messages except the Windows own "Mathcad application has stopped working". I have another computer also with windows 7 x64, and here the application will start without any problems . The only differense between these computers is that the first one is a "samsung" installation width showelware and all, and computer nr. 2 is a vanilla installation of windows.
I have tried the following
Reinstallation of MSXML 4.0 SP.2
---------||--------- of .Net, i can't remember the version, but it was the newest I could find.
Reinstallation of the computer (with the samsung disk)
But nothing seems to work. Mathcad 14 worked without any problems...
I hope somebody will help, and sorry for my bad english, i´m a dane

Finding all solutions?
In attached there is a system of two nonlinear equations. Graph indicates there are two solutions but Find only finds one of them.
Is there a best practice procedure for searching for other solutions? Maybe by creating a simple program to loop over the x domain (valid values of x) or what do you recommend?

Windows7 64bit and Mathcad14

I have not managed to get my M14 to run ;>(
I upgraded my workstation and have done all wich have been available, but still no go.
"Unable to create 12.0 engine factory" is only indicator of the problem before 14 start-up logo vanishes.
How is it PTC ? When can I get a working release ?
